jump to expanded postI am hoping to do a new touchHLE release on Monday (the date is special…). if I’m lucky, I’ll have a new supported app in that release, buuut I haven’t gotten that app working yet so I’ll probably be disappointed :p
okay so said app gets to its menu screen now (…with some hacks applied that i don’t know if i’ll have time to clean up) so i’m hopeful :3
one hack i’ll keep: https://github.com/hikari-no-yume/touchHLE/commit/cb7b280da17af457e37a3ea937c0936fcd8ad7f9
very happy with how well this works
ok let me spoil Apple’s parade by pointing out something before they do: today is the 15-year anniversary of Apple launching the iPhone SDK! and therefore also the 15-year anniversary of the Super Monkey Ball demo that would eventually lead to this project :3
why yes I did have this anniversary in my calendar. I was thinking it would be a cool release date for the first touchHLE release… as you can see I’m significantly ahead of schedule :3
since it’s the 15-year anniversary of the iPhone SDK launch… I recommend watching the keynote from that day, fifteen years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS5bMRKc5Ss
it’s presented with typical Apple smugness about how cool and advanced they are
…and all of the smugness was well-deserved, because oh boy what a launch that was!!
CRINGE WARNING: you might want to skip the bit at the end when the VC gets up on stage and praises Steve Jobs to his face for a whole minute, including demanding the audience clap for him. I’m not kidding
I think it’s fair to say that the iPhone SDK launch changed the world. It really was years ahead of any mobile platform at the time, and would stay that way for years until Android became like, good enough. (don’t @ me about this, Android in 2008 couldn’t even do real games)
