if the purpose of a system is what it does, then the purpose of a photo on photo ID is to reassure both parties that this is a valuable item that nobody would store carelessly, and therefore it is not necessary to check the photo against the person's face, possession is enough

today we remember Henry Kissinger. in his case, the Norwegian Nobel Committee made the unusual decision to award him the Peace Prize anthumously, that is, before he died. unfortunately it seems that this took longer to take effect than anticipated, but well done, committee!

i am so over purity politics. someday maybe i should write up how i feel about it, but honestly writing political texts does not spark joy for me. i find a lot more satisfaction in writing about art, and i'll just hope that somehow, the joy promotes humanity

there's a street in my local area (broadly construed) that has a used and new musical instrument shop and, right next to it, the local office of the company behind my favourite stealth game series. i'm kinda giddy at that discovery, this combination is very my thing
