why did I never play Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice until now. the … character names … have already killed me several times
the first case was great!
if phoenix wright was a real lawyer he’d never allow his daughter to get arrested without having taught her she should never talk to the police

finished the second case now. damn, that trial got turned about so many times in just one day… very satisfying
can’t underscore enough how much the hits keep coming and they don’t stop coming. the character names are Terrible and the ways they express themselves in their animations are sometimes even worse
goddamn that third case. if that was the final case of this game I wouldn’t even be mad, it’s so good. well… it has a number of annoying cross-examinations that I had to bruteforce :/ … but the story is fantastic. it’s also a reunion of the trilogy with the newer games :3
also, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, this might be the most politically radical Phoenix Wright game
according to Activity Log I’ve already played the game for 26 hours… oh god.
that means just the first three cases of Spirit of Justice are already longer than the first two DS games, and nearly as long as all of Apollo Justice
the fourth case is one of those refreshingly short and simple ones. it’s also this game’s token Extremely Japanese case to stretch the credibility of the localisation. it’s nice to play as Athena and see Blackquill again, shame they’re extremely harsh on Athena throughout.
however the main thing I’ll remember from this case is that one of the witnesses is not only redacted, but also redacted, and I can’t believe how much I don’t hate the execution of it, and I love them.
this fifth episode… i felt this all the way through the game so far, but especially in this one, this feels like it was meant to be the final ace attorney game's final case, going out with a bang.
(I haven't finished it yet. I have no idea when I will, it's huge.)
gods, if that wasn't the episode to end all episodes. absolutely masterful. an incredible end to the game and the series. it had it all: so many twists, adventure, an arc as heartwarming as it is tragic, intrigue, full use of the gimmicks of its setting, and a worthy opponent.
after 50 hours I finished Spirit of Justice… and I haven't played the DLC yet!
