@hikari the GPL has been deprecated in favour of a Contributor License Agreement, written by Google (who owns Linux)

We're excited to announce that Linux, which is part of the Android Open Source Project, will be changing its name to Kernel.
An update on Kernel

Kernel has served Android well. Long-timers may recall that, once upon a time, it was called Linux.
Now that we have completed the transition from Kernel to Fuchsia Core on all supported platforms (Pixel, Chrome, and participating partner handsets), Kernel will be transitioning to a community governance model. Alphabet Platforms Inc has donated Kernel to the Apache Software Foundation, effective as of this writing.
