me before buying a keyboard: man, isn't it a shame that there's “digital pianos” that only can make piano sounds? there's a world of different instruments that a general midi synthesiser supports
me now: man, if this thing had 600 different piano soundfonts, i'd never tire of it
the piano is simply the best-sounding instrument you can play with a midi keyboard. don't @ me
this is both because the piano is just a really good instrument, but also because midi treats every instrument as if it's a piano and obviously pianos sound best in that context
warning: if you learn to play piano, your perception of piano renditions of music will change from being your least favourite genre to your favourite
yes i'm using piano and keyboard almost interchangeably. i know they're not the same and that i'll struggle to adjust when playing on the real thing, sue me
