jump to expanded postin just a fee hours, something rare and special happens⦠the Takarazuka Revue is doing a performance, but it's live-streamed globally, legally, and with official English subtitles! I may have to pay $27 and get up at 6am, but I don't wanna miss it https://beyondlive.com/contents/241
for the unfamiliar, it's a Japanese theatre troupe with only female performers, but they perform musicals with both male and female parts, sometimes from Broadway, sometimes original adaptations from manga, novels, or what have you. and they're extremely good at it.
also if you're a queer woman like me then ehehehe
like let's be clear here, it's in no way directly supportive of homosexuality or whatever, but if you've ever seen flamboyant, homoerotic theatrical performances between men in theatre and thought βbut what if they were girlsβ, well
oops, *few hours
btw, while the timing of the live performance for us europeans is quite unsociable, there is a rebroadcast in 16 days' time also and that has more comfy hours. the ticket cost covers both the livestream and the restream. no vod though, alas.
oh oops only the re-stream is subtitled, sorry about that
I ended up missing the original stream because I valued getting a good night's sleep higher, but the re-stream is starting in six minutes and I'm quite excited for it :3
(the re-stream is https://beyondlive.com/contents/242 in case anyone's interested in last-minute purchasing)
damn I can't believe Bond is a woman and a person of colour now
I did not realise how much of βBondβ is just body language and being a misogynist. she makes it look so effortless, it's so convincing, if I couldn't hear or understand a word I'd still know who she is meant to be
what the fuck is this second act I swear to god
that was fun! a very interesting experience. I'm not sure it was faithful to the source material,,,
