jump to expanded posti watched the Cathode Ray Dude video about Phoenix Hyperspace and⦠what the fuck. they did what with S3 sleep and the NTFS filesystem. and they shipped it on real consumer devices???? dear gods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5M0TwnkWUM
@hikari hotswap your operating system
@hikari hmm can you imagine if this were standardized (i.e. not hacked together, not relying on S3 sleep, and with the ability for the running OS to swap the other OS's RAM to disk if it needs more RAM) and implemented on the steam deck?
@SoniEx2 just use a hypervisor at that point :p
or use hybernation tbh, it's plenty fast with an SSD
@hikari hypervisor defeats the point of having windows on the deck
and yeah we guess but eh
but also, you'd hotswap your CPU, GPU, RAM, PSU, SSD, whole blade/server, but you stop short at hotswapping your OS?
@SoniEx2 I don't see why it would defeat the point. you can virtualise the graphics without a huge perf penalty
@hikari anticheat
@hikari@social.noyu.me ah yes i remember this
it's beautiful and i love that a real company actually spent money on developing this mess
@hikari absolutely amazing and wild
