a thing i need you to understand is that, despite everything, it is still the case that uk law prohibits discrimination against trans people unless it's a “proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim”. for all the chatter about “single-sex spaces”, they are usually illegal

however, the press and government have have been successfully captured by the anti-trans movement over the last few years, so while the law says it's illegal to discriminate against trans people, government policy is incredibly trans-hostile, and the press will never question it.

@hikari It shouldn't be controversial that trans women need those spaces because trans women are more vulnerable even than cis women to the kinds of violence those spaces are meant to manage.

But that is a difference between trans women and cis men, which means it is something that people who cling to the dogma "trans women are men" are very keen to pretend isn't true.
