jump to expanded postwe are in the timeline where Sweden (Sverige, Svea rike) is named after the Swedes. but as anyone who's read about the titles Swedish kings used to have will know, Sweden is also the kingdom of the Goths. what if we were living in a timeline where we called it Gothen or something. that would be cool. Gothenburg would probably be the capital
@hikari this is only tangentially related but there’s a vikingcore cover of “seven nation army” where they replace “I’m going to Wichita” with “I’m going to Uppsala” which I find existentially funny for some reason https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vAV4Rf2yiIE&pp=ygUXc2V2ZW4gbmF0aW9uIGFybXkgc2thbGQ%3D
@0xabad1dea in modern day Sweden Uppsala is mostly known for its university, so this is quite funny to me as well
@hikari the cadence of Wichita to an American is “I recognize the name but I am unaware of any reason you’d want or need to go there”
@0xabad1dea as an unamerican, it's one of those american places that i've heard of and know nothing about, but i assume it's not important (i mean it is in kansas). i mostly remember it because it's fun to say.
@0xabad1dea and of course the only things i know about kansas are that dorothy isn't there and neither is half of kansas city
@saagar @0xabad1dea see i think the legal concept of a city is fake. especially given i grew up in a country that has three different words for a place depending on how large it is, and now i live in a country that has two.
