iOS may cause unfathomable amounts of e-waste in the form of old iOS devices and iOS-specific gadgets, but it also forces audio interface manufacturers to make their devices class-compliant so they won't become e-waste. so, it's impossible to say if it's bad or not.
‪smartphones and tablets are probably the worst thing to ever happen to e-waste, and it's entirely because of software! :(‬
