jump to expanded postDOSBox's MIDI capture is very convenient. You can listen to a game's soundtrack in the "sound test" and now you have a MIDI you can replay anytime.
@hikari whoa, it can do that? Because the emulated sound cards take midi events as inputs I guess?
@0xabad1dea it can if the game uses MIDI output, which was always a relatively high-end option but still present in a lot of games because composers could afford fancy MIDI modules and also sound cards eventually had their own built-in MIDI synths, of varying quality. it can't do it for direct FM synthesis obviously
@0xabad1dea there's also a mode that records FM synthesis events, in a completely different format of course
