a thing that's very important about communist parties is they love ideology. you can't have a good communist leader without an ideology. even if you actually govern based on vibes, you must at least ghostwrite a Tolstoy-length book that lays out what your ideology is meant to be.
they just really, really like ideology. it's very important to their self-concept.
also because marx was a scientist they really want to claim a scientific, academic foundation. it's sort of “i really fucking love science” as a meta-ideology. of course, that does not necessarily translate into an actual respect for science in practice.
