jump to expanded postpolitical belief that probably makes me unelectable: it is a good thing if police have limited resources and can't actually enforce all the laws on the books, instead having to focus on relatively more impactful crimes
can you imagine what an awful world we'd be living in if every instance of drug possession or copyright infringement was prosecuted? that's why i don't want a mass surveillance society.
“i would simply make those things not be crimes” me too, but what about all the other crimes?
“but this enables selective enforcement” all laws are selectively enforced, you can only hope the selectiveness is in some way fair
@hikari In theory yes, in practice cops are not particularly good at maximizing their impact
