is there a project to translate the WIPP messages (http://wipp.info/ ; “this place is not a place of honor” etc) into every language. if not, it must be started. my gf just remarked to me that these should be the new sample texts for translation, instead of the Lord's Prayer
I definitely prefer it to “I can eat glass, it does not hurt me”. it's funnier, more interesting, and potentially even useful
it's also an interesting exercise because concepts like like “place of honour”, “highly esteemed deed … commemorated”, “system of messages”, “powerful culture” are fairly complicated. glossing is required!
