jump to expanded postjust established the world's first and only Gay State, the state for gay people. if you're a real gay (fake gays excluded), you can Return here right away! we have millions of homes available here in the Gay State, just sitting empty because they uhh, fell off the back of a truck
um excuse me i just got sent some utterly vile homophobic abuse? this person is clearly an exterminationist aligned with terrorists. look at this tweet:
Normal Straight Guy • just now
@hikari_no_yume fuck you. give me my house back. you forced my entire family to flee
I thought we could all be nice here but it seems like the straight people just aren't willing to accept the Gay State's right to exist. why do you hate us? we just want peace 😔 so anyway we are retaliating with a military occupation and economic blockade
more vile comments… people are accusing us of apartheid. nothing could be further from the truth… the Gay State is the most multi-ethnic, minority-tolerant state in Europe. if you oppose the Gay State it really shows your anti-blackness, you white supremacist.
i think some people just don't understand how beautiful the dream of the Gay State is. a homeland for gay people… do you not want us to have a homeland? what, do you want to live your whole life as diaspora, never knowing what it truly is to be queer? you must hate yourself.
nationalism is a fucking nightmare dude
obviously this is an extended allegory for and satire of a certain well-known nationalist ideology, but like, it does actually apply to the group it claims to be about as well… gay separatism is awful in many ways and it worries me to see younger generation queers fall for it
i'm a girl of dreams. i can only sympathise with those who get caught up in a dream, but a utopia of exclusion is not an idea that should be allowed to leave the realm of imagination.
@hikari everyone has completely lost the plot tbh
@hikari for a second I thought it could also fit with a certain other situation regarding a certain group of people behind certain instances. Not as good of a fit, but still xD
Also, I can also kind of see why younger LGBTQ+ people might find it enticing - they see assholes all over the place, including in positions of power both in the corporate and political world; and they kind of lose trust, especially if they see cis-het people who don't do or say anything meaningful seemingly being implicit in queer discrimination (out of being an asshole themselves, out of ignorance, etc.)Doesn't excuse any awfulness, of course.
I guess the best anyone could do is just stick their hand out and offer support or help as much as they can.
