jump to expanded postgerman is such a good language because instead of calling it a “grand piano” they call it a „Flügel“, which is the word for a wing. because it looks like a bird's wing!! 🕊️
a fittingly beautiful name for such a beautiful instrument. it just makes me happy
there is so much beauty in the world

the word for wing is closer to the english word, but we totally just stole flygel from german
@trif yup!! it's funny how Swedish and apparently Danish and (without looking up) presumably also Norwegian grabbed this word from German but only use it for the extended senses of “wing”, never as the normal word for a wing
