jump to expanded posti am so over purity politics. someday maybe i should write up how i feel about it, but honestly writing political texts does not spark joy for me. i find a lot more satisfaction in writing about art, and i'll just hope that somehow, the joy promotes humanity
incidentally i feel similarly about technical stuff. all the blog posts i regret making are the ones where there's no art in it, where it's purely about programming or something
i say "political texts" but writing about art is, of course, political! it's just a kind of politics i find more pleasing to the soul. it's very distant from national and party politics, that's for sure
and, possibly, a more effective one. i think the way someone feels about art tells you more about their politics than a list of conventional political checkboxes. what do you find beauty in? what do you seek to keep alive in the world?
(not to ruin the vibe but, an interesting example of this is that you can more readily recognise fascism in how someone feels about art than by any particular policy position they hold. this is because art is about vibes and fascism is a politics entirely defined by vibes)
