jump to expanded postthe best part of being an emulator developer is being asked the same questions over and over again from people who can't read
this gets a lot worse if you support Android for some reason
making it difficult to get in contact with me was a deliberate strategy to avoid me getting burned out on emulator development too quickly, and it worked. i recommend it. there's something to be said for barriers to entry. i don't like gatekeeping generally but my time isn't free
‪btw you could actually cancel me over getting annoyed at Android users, because the reasons they're annoying are ultimately related to the fact Android is the OS of the masses: non-computer people use it, kids use it, and it's overwhelmingly popular in low-income countries‬
‪but uh android sucks and i don't owe users anything, that's the truth‬
@hikari
nothing, not even
- not knowingly shipping malicious or grossly vulnerable software?
- communicating in good faith?
@whitequark truth be told i do believe i owe my users those things, but they're such a low bar to me that i don't actually think about it
@whitequark my problems with OSS burnout come from the fact i actually care too much, maybe. i am honour-bound or something. if i didn't care i would have just completely dropped touchHLE months ago, and i could have gotten away with this, but instead i'm determined to not leave it in a place where others are forced to clean up after me
@hikari yep. I'm the same. I think there's a useful discussion to be had about handling this exact problem
