i talk a lot about dreams. usually i'm imagining like… dreams that are not the kind you have when sleeping, but they're also cool, sometimes…
for example: often, dreams contain not only new experiences (had during the dream) but new memories. dreamworld background knowledge
dreamworld facts are fascinating. while in the dream, they aren't things i'm experiencing, they're things i already know, perhaps events i already remember happening. while in a dream, i can't distinguish these from my actual memories, they feel equally real.
and unlike events that happen during a dream, these “facts” don't lose their realness as quickly once i'm out of the dream. sometimes they just feel correct at some level and i can't figure out why. it might be that the false info is built on true info that makes it credible.
because they have the feel of existing knowledge, it makes me wonder if that's what they actually are. do they feel like real memories because i experienced them in previous dreams? do i have continuity between dreams? does the dreamworld continue to exist when i'm not there?
last night i had a dream with one of these facts in it and it has such staying power. even though the dream is over i can still remember the fact and it feels real. it's one that could be real, even though i know it isn't.
maybe this knowledge is real in another world…
