jump to expanded posti think like half of all social problems can be fixed by radically upending the real estate market. i just need to figure out how you fix the other half
does anyone know how to fix the environment and end the trash economy. can it be achieved by doing a trade war and trying to reindustrialise the west. i feel like there might be something in this
@hikari how would you radically upend it? I don't know how it is where you are. Where I am the lack of housing is caused by very high costs to build new housing, which is to say building higher or on cheaper land won't make a difference. This leads to folks building only for rich assholes. Thus, lots of folks can never buy a house.
@canteen this ought to be fixable with economies of scale
@hikari building stuff here is done by one of two to three giant companies, so I think this is not the case. I've seen this happen even in construction projects with hundreds of houses. Unless your point is we need to build thousands in one go (which would be an entire small city), I'm not sure how scale is currently solving anything.
