my habit of listening to music in the background constantly means that my brain gets used to the idea music is always playing, so when music isn't playing, i will just… discover something is playing in my head, sometimes, and then listen to it for real. it's interesting.

i think this is similar to how i can sometimes hear things in noise or see things in rorschach images

@hikari I had that a lot in university, though less so these days. Probably because I’ve stopped doing my other musical hobbies (choir / a cappella groups).
