god this is so uncomfortable in how it reminds me of my own failings

i think giving up the pretense of being a video game creator has been good for me. i'm free from that baggage. i can be creative in other ways instead

you know, i'm realising that Dan Olson is, himself, pitiable in a sort of similar way, he's just more self-aware, and… oh wait that's. that's where this is going.

@hikari what was it to you?

@whitequark a sincere aspiration and a true label at the time i adopted it, because i was actively working on a game, but for a long time i've effectively not been working on that project or anything similar, and so i've found myself thinking i should do things just to live up to the label, and that's not good

@whitequark i would still like to make a game someday, and if i do, it might be easier because i'm not trying to live up to that old expectation…
