jump to expanded postfinally discovered a limitation of my Yamaha PSR-350 keyboard that just doesn't make sense in any universe
you see, it has a built-in distortion/amp simulation effect, which you can access it from the panel controls… BUT THE DRY SIGNAL IS MIXED BACK IN AND YOU CAN'T FIX THIS
so it sounds like ASS it just completely sux. the dry signal also goes through the reverb but thankfully you can at least turn the reverb off.
now, here's the thing: it turns out you actually can adjust the dry/wet mix level. but ONLY via MIDI! and if you do that it sounds good!
but like. yamaha. if you're gonna let the user select distortion from the panel, but not let them adjust the dry/wet mix level from the panel, then… why wouldn't you set it to 0% dry. why.
i would also understand making this effect only accessible via MIDI. but why this combo
