@hikari i forget when or if i asked. what keyboard is this. is that a qy100 or qy70?

@ciel i think i overpaid quite a bit for both so i don't want to quote the prices as i think they'd be unrepresentative, the QY70 is something you can get for well under $200, closer to $100 ideally. i don't see the CBX-K1XG available as often so i'm not so sure of its pricing, but i'm also not sure i'd recommend it to most people. a modern midi controller with a MIDI DIN output and which is sufficiently configurable can be paired with the QY70 and produce a better setup than what i have and for less money

@hikari wait so, in that video with your QY and CBX, which is the sound source? I'd assumed the CBX.

@ciel QY. i'm just using the CBX for the speakers in this case. the internal sound sources are quite similar between the two but the QY's has a lot more sounds in XG mode and in particular the nice saw wave i'm using here only exists on the QY

@ciel the overlap in their capabilities is part of why i wouldn't suggest someone else buy both

@hikari id love to get a QY and one of their FM units ... i feel as if they could compliment each-other

@ciel ooh yeah. i wonder if one of the portasound (pss) models is small and has midi and some degree of sound editing capability…
