jump to expanded postwhat the fuck how is the listening experience of on-ear headphones so different to in-ears, i did not expect it to be that dramatic
if in-ears make sound feel line it's coming from inside my skull, but potentially massive, then these big thingies cupping my ears rn make it feel like it's coming from inside the headphones, not far outside my ears. the sound is actually less big feeling if that makes sense
tbf i am trying just one single particular pair of headphones someone i know happens to own, and i don't know if they're any good. closed-back btw
@hikari the great thing about closed-back on-ears is mostly the naturally good isolation. Great for recording, but not so much for listening really.
@hikari hikari you are describing soundstage and it is the most confusing aspect of headphones
some headphones have a massive soundstage, some have a tiny soundstage, and the only way you can tell is byβ¦ listening to them. in-ears usually have less but thereβs nothing stopping them from being good too
