Mfw Vivaldi is a Chrome clone instead to have an own engine and Otter Browser (an Opera 12.x clone) doesn't have add-on support yet.

It's awful that the closest possible Firefox replacements still suck.

@domodak @hikari it would’ve been great if Vivaldi could have taken Presto with them when the Otelo/Opera/Vivaldi split thing happened, then we’d have a browser engine being developed by a competent team that isn’t beholden to shareholders

Sure, in an ideal world, would be nice to avoid giving Google more money, and Patreon subscriptions for youtubers you like gives them a better cut...

But Youtube Premium is miles better for creators than the ad revenue is, it saves you having to deal with ads/adblocker or having to mentally manage paying all the various channels through 3rd party means and can just auto-distribute the funds based on what you actually watch

As far as "subscription services for things you watch" go, I honestly think it ranks better than any of the Big Name AAA TV/Movie Streaming Services

The other thing being I guess if you like watching youtube on tv off a console or smart tv or something, blocking ads there tends to be a bit harder as you need to do it a traffic-level, and in that case Premium is also nice for being faff-free

But glad to have provided another good reason you'd overlooked, regardless ^_^

unfortunately, it's not, so i use modded clients instead

@hikari @trif I use a modded client and pay for YTP because as far as I can tell my watch time should still count for the creator and get them that sweet sweet YTP money
