there is no absurdity in that high-level scientologists are required to believe l ron hubbard's sci-fi writings are literal truth. the absurdity of the required beliefs is the point. if you reach that level you are supposed to realise that beliefs are malleable for cult purposes

@hikari the thing is, at least based on our very distant understanding of summaries of the beliefs, they don't feel notably that much weirder than any other UFO religion. the impressive part is following through with the rest of the owl^W cult building
