i hate language filters i hate language filters i hate language filters the only meaningful information about the topic i am searching for can only be found if japanese-language results are included but instead i only get garbage autogenerated from metadata because i am in sweden
yes i realised this eventually and fixed the filter but oh god
the monolingual assumption that only information written in The Default Language could be relevant to you is so horribly arrogant
anyway yeah my fault for searching for information about songs by a japanese band without first interacting with the google bureaucracy and informing them by fax in signed triplicate that i in fact would like results in languages other than fucking swedish
though i'm also annoyed at safari here for not bothering to send multiple languages in the “accept-languages” http header. that's bad. google could've been more helpful to me if it had had that info
oh! actually, to their credit, google doesn't do filtering by default? it's just that it's struggling against the SEO that all the garbage has. also you can filter by a specific language easily with “advanced search”, without changing the settings. that's nice
