jump to expanded postelectric guitar is such an Experience man… even with nothing in the signal path, even when completely unamplified. solid body forever
i know i'll eventually need to obtain some of simulacrum of the 1950's most dogshit sound-generating apparatus, but the completely clean guitar tone is already so cool, i did not expect just plugging in the cable and audio interface i already had and simply monitoring to… work?
it explains so much of how music history came about. some guy just made A Solid Guitar With A Phone Jack and it Just Worked and it was such an obviously fantastic idea that it could be immediately successful even before anyone figured out this shit called “distortion”
@hikari You can do effects and amp sims in software, but then you lose the direct monitoring and introduce latency, which isn't so fun.
But what I often do is record it clean like that and then add the effects and amps later. It horrifies the purists. Good.
@Catriona yeah i don't really want to do live effects or synthesis in software, not my thing
