oh my god, the eu is going to force apple to allow airdrop to work on android?

never thought i'd see the day. people younger than me may not remember that wirelessly sharing files between devices from different manufacturers used to be possible, it was the iphone that killed it!

it was not some exotic obsolete tech that apple refused to implement. it's just a feature of bluetooth. you pick any two devices from the early 2000's, a sony ericsson phone, an hp ipaq, some laptop, whatever, if they had bluetooth they could send eachother files. it just worked

@hikari @hadley this just unlocked a memory of using an android app called “hoccer” with my friends. it supported gestures via the accelerometer so you could fling files across the room at your friends. Apple really ought to add that to airdrop, especially now with the ultra-wideband support in newer iPhones allowing it to tell whose phone you’re aiming at
