Yamaha PSS-A50 appreciation post: today is the first time in my, what, one and a half months of owning this $100 keyboard, that i've had to recharge the four AA batteries inside?! i don't know how many hours it lasts for but clearly it's “a lot”. a double digit number certainly
i use this thing for at least a few minutes every day, sometimes up to an hour. yamaha's aggressive vertical integration and cost minimisation has given this thing incredibly good battery life.
it's also usb bus powered but i only sometimes bother to plug it in
the thing draws so little power that they actually warn you that some usb power banks aren't compatible because they cut off usb devices that aren't drawing much energy, as they're designed for charging phones. lmao
at this moment in time, i think i have three sacred instruments: my guitar, the pss-a50, and the roland sc-7. if i could only keep three of them, i'd keep those three
