wait are you fucking kidding me? did gibson never trademark “sg”? how are the yamaha sgs just called the “yamaha sg”s. what
i am currently like speedrunning understanding guitar designs from zero and i lost my shit seeing this on yamaha's website

ah yes. the SG. Yamaha's most iconic guitar. bursts out laughing
(i am aware it was originally branded “les paul” until les paul hated it so much they made him take the name off it, so “sg” was never meant to be the iconic name, but it still became iconic, so…)
@hikari the yamahas were renamed to SBG in the USA, SGS in the UK, for exactly the reason you'd expect
