jump to expanded postit's objectively kind of hilarious that the roland sc-7, the chibi budget dos gamer general midi synth from 1991, has become a load-bearing piece of my music creation setup even when i'm not even using the sc-7. i am playing my guitar through the sc-7 right now,,,
it isn't even one of the cool synths that has a guitar fx processor. it's far too primitive for that. its 3.5mm input jacks are just simple line-in passthroughs for user convenience. plus it has a volume control. and that happens to be convenient for me (i don't have a mixer)
my little vox amplug headphone amp for guitar has an output impedance or some amplifier characteristic that doesn't gel well with my IEMs. and adjusting the volume on it is fiddly. so what do i do? i run it through the roland sc-7, which doesn't have that problem. it's just handy
