actually it wasn't the tuning! i think it's the intonation??? that's what it would be if the strings feel, for lack of better words, far too “loose”? like too easy to fret, to the point i can't play them properly. i suspect this has been caused by temperature or humidity

okay, the neck relief is as it should be, so it's not the truss rod, it's the saddles' height; somehow what should've been a height of close to 1.6mm above the 17th fret was actually closer to 3mm(!) on the bass side, judging by this (admittedly very unsuited to the task) ruler!

@hikari I was so worried I wouldn't find the time/motivation to do regular guitar practice and end up dropping it but so far there's been a significant downtick in time spent on video games because I've been playing around with my stratocaster instead

I mean, it's still early, less than a month has passed, and some days I am so drained of spoons I either don't touch it or only do 5 mins, but yeah, it's a funky little noise thing that makes the good vibes :3

@hikari whatever it is, you're never fucked (unless something breaks or whatever, but that's unlikely to happen when handled with care)

Almost all aspects of how a guitar is set up are adjustable. Maybe in this case the "action" got too low? That's the distance between the strings and the fretboard, how close they are. You can adjust this height at the bridge.

How it works exactly is slightly different on each guitar, but I'm sure YouTube has tutorials aplenty.
