(this is one of those very scrunkly bits of music gear that if i have any self-preserving instinct i will Not acquire, but it fascinates me)
aka the rock band 3 guitar controller that's an actual guitar, and also a midi guitar. it's a really bizarre, fascinating object in so many ways…
at the peak of guitar hero's popularity it somehow made commercial sense to manufacture… a cheap, entry-level midi guitar. hardtailed, only has a single pickup, but it's hexaphonic, there's wiring inside the neck to detect fretting, and midi translation is entirely on-board
there's what looks like a humbucker-sized slot on it but instead of a humbucker it has a pop-up string mute that helps out the midi tracking system…
it is also just a normal guitar tho, you can plug it into an amp
oh yeah also using thicker strings than 9s voids the warranty?!
have fender ever made another officially branded stratocaster(tm) that only has one pickup and that's single-coil. moreso than wanting to know the answer to this, i want to know how to find the answer…
