jump to expanded postdsjhgfsdjhf i'm ridiculously excited i'm finally going to have a modern, practical, pleasant smartphone that exists as a single physical object rather than desperately suffering spirits of failed dreams spanning two semi-independent bodies that long to be put out of their misery
and all for less than half the price of the iphone 16e. and i'll actually like be able to install applications on the phone and do whatever the hell i like without fucking prostrating myself before the ghost of steve jobs
βͺi'm so excited to be able to TAKE PHOTOS and LISTEN TO MUSIC and RECORD AUDIO and MAKE PHONE CALLS and yes, even develop video game emulators. believe it or not i do not currently own a phone of either gender that is practically usable for these things. i'm so good at sufferingβ¬
@hikari let me guess...android user tranzitioning from ios? yeah, the grass is greener on the other side, however unfortunately, not by a whole lot
@esoteric_programmer yep, moving from an iphone that is falling apart. but also, amusingly enough, simultaneously moving from possibly the worst android phone you can buy in 2021
@hikari ok, now that's time paradox territory. So, you in this timeline are moving from ios to android, while you from a paralell reality is moving from a crappy android to another android? rofl
@esoteric_programmer see, i have an iphone se 2nd-gen that i bought third-party refurbished, but within like a day or two of getting it i immediately damaged it slightly, preventing me from returning it, and then slowly discovered the hard way the mobile reception is fundamentally unreliable.
meanwhile i bought a cat s22 flip for the sheer novelty of it, but it's an absolute potato phone that is comically impractical for anything but very basic uses. however its 4g reception actually works consistently. so i tether my iphone to it all the time when outside.
@esoteric_programmer and, well, the iphone's camera's optical image stabilisation broke at some point, and the microphone became unusable at some point, and it's long been in a state of permanent free space crunch due to the non-expandable storage, so i started using the potato phone for taking photos, even though it sucks, and for making phone calls, and for recording videos, even though it reallllly sucks for that, and
