@erincandescent @hikari SH72 in AliExpress is super cheap and good enough for casual electronics tinkering. can be powered via usb-c with the appropriate cable too.

In general lots of Chinese companies make irons compatible with high end iron tips and they all have very good price to performance ratio
@erincandescent @hikari Pinecil and other TS101-style irons are very versatile, cost-effective, compact, portable, and easy to learn
@erincandescent @hikari my biggest piece of advice with them is to avoid the fine-point or ball-type tips in favor of something shaped like this, unless you're experienced and knowledgeable enough to really be sure you need something else
@erincandescent @hikari I haven't tried the iFixit iron yet, but it comes stock with a bevel tip instead of a ball/cone, which instantly gets it huge points in my book
