was talking to good friends who're frustrated at how social media influences their lives and realised that social media takes you out of control of the direction of your own life, floating along a river flowing godknowswhere, experiencing your own life only in brief glimpses
@hikari this is not intrinsic to social media but a property of how you use and relate it; either a lack of skill or a lack of will to apply it
@whitequark this is certainly true, but for the time being, it is much easier for me to kick the habit entirely than to radically reshape it, for better or worse
