the piano is the instrument to learn if you want to understand why scales are Like That in music notation and the guitar is the instrument to learn if you want to have a practical command of them
when i play something out of scale on guitar i immediately understand why (“oh, the interval between these is a minor third, huh”) when i play something out of scale on keyboard i want to swear at my fingers and swear to stick to the imaginary lines
