jump to expanded postmachine heads for a guitar (the things that hold the strings and allow you to tune them) are such delightful little metal objects to hold in your hands when they haven't been mounted yet
@hikari@social.noyu.me There are also countless options for them. I've personally chosen Grover machine heads because they A) Feel amazing when both tuning and winding strings and B) Have had high-quality manufacturing for 50 years.
@lyrial the particular ones that were making me feel this were some Gotoh SD91's, i got them to replace the cheap and (unfortunately) damaged proprietary tuners on my Rock Band 3 Squier (which is from 2011, back when Squier still used weird tuners). Gotoh were the cheapest trustworthy option (serious Japanese company, has a website with full specs and everything) for what i wanted (6-in-line Kluson-style with split posts — just because i wanted to try split posts!)
@hikari@social.noyu.me In the end, do what you like with your guitar <3 There are reasons why people spend decades finding a tone as well as what makes them happy to play. Keep it up!
