the hatred for proprietary creative software in hobbyist and open source spaces actually just causes free creative software to be worse, because it means that the people who make it aren't comparing against their "competitors" and their users lack the experience for good feedback

blender and godot are not counterexamples to this: they started out as proprietary projects!
