a visual metaphor for why i hate algorithmic feeds finally hit me

An image with a meme-friendly format presents two crude parchment paper maps side-by-side. Most of both maps is hidden from the viewer by a sort of fog, similar to how an RPG video game would express unexplored areas. In the one on the left, titled “algorithmic discovery” (with scare-quotes), there are random dots of missing fog all over the map, with no paths between them, but they reveal almost nothing of interest. In the one on the right, titled “finding music the old-fashioned way” (without scare-quotes), many different crudely drawn features (a forest, mountains, a graveyard, people, some kind of dragon or snake, a castle, etc) can be seen, and the branching paths through the fog make it clear how the explorer got from one place to the other. They are the same map except for the pattern of fog, but the latter one is much more interesting.
