jump to expanded postoh my god capos aren't for adjusting pitch they're for lowering action why didn't i see it until it was pointed out
the high-speed twelfth-fret jazz bullshit is so much easier with a capo making it feel like i'm in the cowboy zone
i would not be quite helpless on my own, but i owe my insane guitar genius friends an immense impossible-to-repay debt for giving me an ambient awareness of so many concepts, making me quicker to assign meanings to the things my senses scream at me but i'm prone to overlooking
curiosity and perceptiveness are very important
christ i could be ten times the βguitaristβ i am already if only i would pay better attention to what my body tells me, and yet it's a miracle really knowing there are people who can play this instrument better than me who somehow pay even less attention than i manage to
the four essential skills of the guitarist are seeing with your eyes, hearing with your ears, feeling with your fingers, and thinking with your brain. if you mix the action with the wrong sense or you rely on someone else's body rather than yours, you won't get very far imo
i hate this conclusion but i keep realising that self-confidence in the right ways is vitally important, if you are unable to trust your own perceptions and completely subordinate them to what you expect the reality to be, you're⦠doomed
