jiankui he is, alas, still one of the greatest to ever do it (as a poster)

my "you don't, in fact, gotta hand it to jiankui he" t-shirt is getting a lot of questions already answered by the t-shirt

he has the kind of delusional self-confidence that we now know could be a hallmark of various kinds of mental illness, but he doesn't have any of those, we suspect; he's probably instead what you might call an "idiot", of the dangerous variety who's very smart about some things

or he is a perfectly sane person who just has chosen that feeding his own narcissism is all he wants out of life, and that is a sane mindset in some sense, tragically

in his public image, he seemingly has all the depth and nuance of a certain narcissistic Kamen Rider Ryuuki character, which is an incredibly funny thing to say because that's a tokusatsu series where everyone has an almost one-note personality, but it's more or less true

(hell, Kitaoka Shuuichi of Kamen Rider Ryuuki might actually have more depth, but we will point out that obviously public twitter account vs tv series is a ludicrously unfair comparison, the former will usually show less of someone's personality for obvious reasons)

we are of course aware that we are currently living in a glass house from which it is not wise to throw stones, even if we know we'd throw them whatever the weather; we do hope it's kind of insightful somehow though

we'd really like to claim we are not quite as bad as him, but we will reserve judgment on that and you can make up your own mind
