perhaps in a similar way to how the Half-Life 2/Source æsthetic is also timeless, even if that one really is a specific time period (2004~2010 perhaps) also. there's a certain… æsthetic overlap between that and the whole Shaft thing, actually (refuses to elaborate)

though putting 2010 as the end date there might be a bit conservative! CS:GO launched in 2012, and gmod probably was still culturally relevant in the first half of the 2010's, right?
