jump to expanded postOne becomes a caricature of oneself when one has to sacrifice being true to some ideal in order to try to prove one holds to another, a sort of Pyrrhic victory. You have to just… be chill, live happily, whatever.
For reference, this thought came from the idea of tweeting “local Minakami Yuki looks at the sky and experiences the world and suddenly calms down a lot”. It's a great tweet but if I am tweeting that I have lost my mind. I am not supposed to be terminally online. So you see.
Before trying to prove yourself, first establish what you want to prove and to who, and what it is really worth, because the thing I would be “trying to prove” here would only make sense to a dozen people who are already my closest friends, who I don't need to prove anything to.
Proving something to yourself is, by the way, a valid option as well, just… you have to be cognizant that that's actually what you're doing.
