jump to expanded postvibing is actually an essential life skill it's just that it can't be all you have y'know
the vibecoders and whatever have the right idea but, tragically, the completely wrong way of going about it
vibecoding (coding based on vibes but using my actual skills and brain to help me) is fun!! similar for me is vibecooking (cooking based on vibes but using my actual skills and brain to help me). it's fun even if you know very little, and also if you know a lot. AI just feels bad
i'm not gonna lecture on AI being inherently bad, there's probably ways to incorporate it into your vibing that don't result in your entire brain turning into soup and draining out of your skull, i just worry that this is what happens to most people who fall for the vibe thing
do you know how much you can learn by just. i don't know⦠writing a music synthesiser from scratch, without knowing much about the topic, looking up an absolute minimum of information? we've done that before. it's quite enjoyable. this is also how we do cooking. it's great fun
you only really learn things by forcing yourself to deal with how little you already know. if you just rely entirely on someone else's help, you don't learn very much
and that is why they force you to work through maths problems and stuff like that in school, one suspects
we never got all that far with it, but here, this video contains the source code and the audio output of the tiny little synthesier we βvibecodedβ (with our brain, not with an AI) a bit less than a year ago
*synthesiser (lmao)
@hikari
