yeah, and we even have a license for mIRC, but the latest version doesn't work in this particular version of WINE for some reason, and using an old version made me realise sometimes, one should love oneself, and use software that is good
@hikari Does that would sound weird if I say that I kinda like it? It feels simple and comfy, just looking at this screenshot alone, I haven't tried it myself tho
@wasabi HexChat is indeed simple and comfy! it's apparently now unmaintained, tragically, but it's only been like that for a year, so…
@hikari Not used it much myself but I do know it came preinstalled on Linux Mint for a long time
While I don't agree with all of Mint's default choices (even for an audience of non-powerusers), as the premier "use this as the Linux of choice for your non-techie relative" it does at least *try* to aim for whatever programs will cause the least headaches in casual usage and HexChat being there Says Something
And IIRC part of the reason HexChat was on the default install was because in addition to the forums, they had it default to an IRC channel for support and a welcome screen that encouraged users to go there with questions - they must have figured HexChat was the friendliest GUI IRC client at the time
@hikari Been using it when it was still xchat. Since I found it I never wanted anything else.
@hikari Oh yeah! I was a HexChat fan on Linux. It's nice.
