We are, unfortunately, suddenly discovering a little bit of horror of trying to eat normal people food while avoiding a specific substance, caffeine in this case. We ordered some mango “booster” that seemed nice, then realised after ordering that it probably is full of caffeine…

…and sure enough, when the shop staff member checked on the computer system, it is. This is very unfortunate. The suspiciously bitter taste would have been a dead giveaway anyway, so I think we wouldn't have drank too much without realising what it was, but… siiiigh.

You know the lemonade that kills you from Panera Bread? I think this is meant to be something like that. And unfortunately, in the right circumstances (probably not the exact ones we're in now), that kind of stuff could kill you, yes. Or worsen psychosis so bad you wish it did.

The worst thing is like, before purchasing, we reasonably suspected it was probably some kind of ice tea. The staff member confirmed that suspicion. And ordinary ice tea would probably be fine. But then we got nervous, and I'm glad we asked, because caffeine is explicitly listed.

”Koffeinhalt 14 mg/100 ml”

Ah.

Look at the size of this “booster” drink (note that we have already sipped a little of it) and compare to the unrelated 330ml can next to it. A normal 330ml can of Coke is like, just under 10mg/100ml?

Probably would've been survivable but oof.

Ahh, for reference, the Panera Bread Lemonade That Kills You™ had something like 45mg/100ml (390mg in a 30oz serving), which is utterly insane, and I can't believe we're reading an article defending the fact they sold that, because that absolutely would kill people.

@hikari yeah, pretty much anything with "booster" in the name always contains a bunch of caffeine, unfortunately. I found this out when I started paying attention to stuff like that and realized how some problems I was having stemmed from the fact I was having three coffees worth of caffeine in a smoothie every day for a while
