jump to expanded postWe watched a film from 1997 called “Hana-bi”, after a close friend mentioned it recently. It's a Beat Takeshi film. It was beautiful in a way that I can't do justice to with words, and it made us cry.
It had some things in common with “All About Lily Chou-Chou”, though maybe I only compare it to that because we also watched that quite recently. Mostly the cynicism. I guess that was to be expected from Kitano. He's the kind of comedian who doesn't make you laugh. That's praise.
To be alive is a miracle, despite it all.
